Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!
Make your mom’s yard beautiful this Mother’s Day. Here are a few tips on how to create some nice looking stripes while mowing her lawn in Ogden, Utah.
The key to creating good looking stripes is to bend the grass blades down in certain directions so the light catches it and creates the effect of the light and dark strips. To do this, you’ll need to have something attached to the back of your mower to matt down the grass as you mow.

  1. Get a lawn striping kit or create your own using a pipe and zip ties.
    1. Follow this video to create your own striping kit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcMD72YAv-I&t=8s
  2. Make sure your grass is at a proper height.
    1. The higher the grass, the more it can bend the grass over to catch the light. We recommend to stripe your grass at about 3 ½ inches tall.
  3. Ensure your grass has a proper thickness.
    1. In order to have defined stripes, your lawn needs to be about as thick as carpet.
  4. Mow in straight lines.
    1. Straight lines will dramatically increase the striping effect, so be sure to be careful as you create your stripes.

Sprinkler Repair (801) 784-0587

When the sun was blazing and grass was drying up, a touching story was shared by Roger Reissig via Facebook. It was of true love and adoration, a knowledge that love still continues after this life. Evidenced by Mr. Reissig’s sacrifice to go out and water his wife's grave twice daily for the last year.
Originally on facebook, the story soon went viral.
Roger gives an account of the awe- inspiring daily routine of his father, a true sprinkler man. What might seem an ordinary task to him, is really an extraordinary act of devotion.
“It’s been over a year now since Mom left us to go to her Heavenly home. Dad goes out to the grave to visit her twice a day. He has a routine where he clips some roses from his rose garden at home and delivers them to Mom. Then he hooks up a hose and waters her grass twice daily. With the recent drought, and hers being one of only graves getting watered, you can see that Moms stands out from the rest and is very beautiful.” – Roger writes on Facebook.

One scorching summer day while at his wife’s’ grave Mr. Reissig noticed a lady near by with tears in her eyes. He quickly went and offered some words of comfort. He learned that the grave she knelt at held her brother, a SSGT in the US Air Force, who had been taken several years before. After this run in with the family of the soldier, Mr. Reissig, the true sprinkler man, took it upon himself to water the grave of this veteran, everyday as well as his wife’s.

This is just one story of a remarkable man who decided to do something as simple as watering a grave to honor veterans, and loved ones. Though it can be hard to let go, we can always have that love that continues on after this life.

God’s love fills the immensity of space; therefore, there is no shortage of love in the universe, only in our willingness to do what is needed to feel it. To do this, Jesus explained we must “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, … soul, … strength, and … mind; and thy neighbour as thyself” (Luke 10:27).  -From Author of Other side of Heaven

Our Goal at Sprinkler Master Repair is to make it so you can spend time with loved ones, and enjoying the things you love. If your sprinklers need to be fixed contact us here.

Create your own Living Wreath!

WOW! When I saw this wreath, I could not believe that something so beautiful could also be a living, growing creation. Bring life to your front door or dining table with a living wreath. Thanks to Taysia Scarano and The Daily for this awesome tutorial.

Materials needed:

  • Pair of latex gloves
  • Floral wire
  • Wreath frame
  • Sphagnum moss
  • Floral pins
  • Pencil/pen/screwdriver (something to make a hole for the succulents)
  • Rooting hormone
  • Succulents

Instructions:
  1. Soak your sphagnum moss in a large bowl. The moss must be completely saturated for 10 minutes.
  2. Take moss out and wring out the water. Set aside. (Wear gloves and a face mask when dealing with the moss.)
  3. With your floral wire, tie a knot to one end of the wreath frame.
  4. Take a handful of moss and stuff it into the frame, forming your desired shape and thickness.
  5. Wrap the wire around the moss. This will hold the moss in place. Continue the process, one handful of moss at a time, until the wreath is covered.
  6. Organize your succulent cuttings. We organized ours by size and color.
  7. To plant the cuttings in the wreath, use a pencil/pen/screwdriver to create a hole in the moss.
  8. One cutting at a time, dip the end into the rooting hormone and then stick it in the hole in the wreath.
  9. To keep the succulent in place until it roots, secure it with a floral pin.
  10. Repeat steps eight and nine until the wreath is complete.
  11. Spray or soak in water once every two to three weeks. Do not overwater! If you are unsure, hold the wreath and feel its weight; if it feels very light and dry, it's time to water it. Succulents need about three to four hours of sunlight, either early morning or late afternoon.
